Recently, we have been trying to incorporate even more micronutrient foods in to our diet, so we have been trying some new recipes. These homemade granola bars are so good. So much better than store bought ones! I think it's partially mental, just knowing that they are fresh and made with all natural ingredients.
Homemade Granola Bars
Recipe inspiration: here
Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups rolled whole oats
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 cup natural peanut butter (I like Smuckers)
3 Tbsp. sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raw almonds
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Directions: Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. Spread the mixture in to a 9x9 pan and press down to make sure that it's flat. Place the pan in the refrigerator for an hour or so for the granola mixture to firm up a bit. Then cut the bars with a sharp knife. It makes 8 bars. Individually wrap them with saran wrap and store in the freezer until ready to eat.
